After magnitude 7.8 earthquakes in Turkey on February 6, volcanos around the Pacific erupted frequently in small, including Sakurajima in Japan, Karangetang in Indonesia, Mauna Loa and Kilauea in Hawaii. Analysis of records shows there has been 691 magnitude 7+ earthquakes since 1950, among which only 3 were companied by local volcano eruptions, and the VEI* of all of them were below 3.
* VEI (Volcanic Explosivity Index) measures the strength of volcano eruptions by the volume of eructations, volcano clouds and qualitative observations.
